Döner is a kind of beef mixture. The style of cooking döner is as it stands and turns in front of the fire, the outer part of the whole döner becomes cooked. The cook cuts the outer part as thinly slices. Then the new surface starts to get cooked. There are several döner options like İskender Kebap, Döner Kebap, Döner Ekmek, Döner Dürüm, Döner Pide.

İskender Kebab: First layer is special bread called “pide”, over it döner slices, over it tomato sauce, over it hot butter and near them yogurt. It changes restaurant to restaurant but tomato slices, french fries and pickle should be added over it. It is recommended not leave Istanbul with out tasting İskender Kebap.

Döner Kebap: Döner slices served with rice.

Döner Ekmek: Half of the bread is filled with döner slices. Also tomato slices, french fries and pickle should be added in it. It is the most common fast food in Turkey. You should find it at nearly every restaurant.

Döner Dürüm: “Dürüm” means “rolled” in English. Döner slices are being put into special thin bread, and that breads are being rolled. Also you should find Döner Dürüm with cheese. Most of the people say that the one with cheese is better.

Döner Pide: Special kind of bread, called “pide”, is filled with döner. Pide is softer than normal bread.

| Tavuk Döner |

“Tavuk” means “Chicken” in English. Tavuk döner is the type that instead of beef they use chicken meat. You can find Tavuk Döner Kebap, Tavuk Döner Ekmek, Tavuk Döner Dürüm, Tavuk Döner Pide, every thing is same just the meat changes. There is no İskender Kebap made of Chicken Döner. İskender Kebap is only made of beef.
Tavuk Döner types are always cheaper than the Beef Döner types.

| Şiş Kebap |

“Şiş” means “skewer” in English. Meat is threaded on a skewer and it is grilled. Şiş Kebap is usually served with some vegetables, rice and special kind of bread called “Pide”. There are several Şiş Kebap options like Et Şiş Kebap, Tavuk Şiş Kebap, Adana Kabap and Urfa Kebap. You can also find Şiş Kebaps as Dürüm. “Dürüm” means “rolled” in English.

Et, Tavuk Şiş Kebap: Small cube of chicken meat or beef is threaded on a skewer and grilled.

Adana Kebap and Urfa Kebap: Adana and Urfa are the two cities of Turkey, located at Southeast. The difference is those kebaps are made of minced meat instead of cube meat. The difference between Urfa Kebap and Adana Kebap is that Adana Kebap is peppery and really hot but Urfa Kebap has less peppery.

Lahmacun is known as Turkish Pizza. The bread is thinner and as ingredients there is only minced beef meat and spices. It is recommended to drink Ayran with lahmacun.

Mantı is a kind of pasta filled with minced beef meat. It has a special tomato, red pepper and yoğurt mixture sauce. The important part of that meal is the sauce.

Gözleme is a savoury Traditional Turkish hand made and Hand rolled pastry. You can find gözleme with cheese, minced meat, potato or spinach.

Kumpir is baked potato. It is served with mixture of salads and cheese. You can choose the salads that you want to be added.

| Simit |

Simit is circular bread with sesame seeds. It is very common as breakfast. It is better to eat with cheese and drink tea with it. You can find it at Simit Shops, at most of the central places there are Simit Shops and at those places you can find different types of Simist like Simit with cheese, olive or sausage.
