Dolmabahçe Palace Dolmabahçe Palace is located at the European side of the Bosporus. It was built with the order of the Sultan Abdülmecid in between 1842 and 1853. It has been used as the residence of the Ottoman Sultans in between 1853 and 1922, apart from the times Yıldız Palace has been used as the residence between 1889 and 1909. Atatürk, who is the founder and the first president of Turkish Republic, spent his last years in the Palace. Atatürk died at 9:05 a.m. on November 10, 1938, in a room that is now part of the museum.

Dolmabahçe Palace Museum is closed on Mondays and Thursdays. On other days, the museum is open between 09.00-16:00 hours. Entrance fee is 10 YTL If you would like to see the Harem section you have to pay extra 8 YTL.

Yıldız Palace

Yıldız Palace Yıldız Palace was built in 1880 and has been used as a residence by the Sultan Abdulhamid II. Comparing to Dolmabahçe Palace, Yıldız Palace was safer for any attack should come from the seaside.

Yıldız Palace Museum is closed on Tuesdays. On other days, the museum is open between 9.00-16:30 hours.

Çırağan Palace

Çırağan Palace Çırağan Palace is located at the European side of the Bosporus. It was built in between 1863 and 1867 with the order of the Sultan Abdulaziz. The palace was connected with a bridge to the Yıldız Palace on the hill behind. Some Sultans stayed at the Palace temporarily. In 1991 the Palace has been restored and a hotel complex was built next to it inside its garden. Now Çırağan Palace is a five-star hotel of the Kempinski Hotels. The Palace is not open to the public.

Beylerbeyi Palace

Beylerbeyi Palace The Beylerbeyi Palace is located at the Asian side of the Bosporus. It was built with the order of Sultan Abdulaziz in between 1861 and 1865. The palace was being used as a summer residence and a place to host the visiting heads of state. Now it is as Beylerbeyi Palace Museum.

Beylerbeyi Palace Museum is closed on Mondays and Thursdays. On other days, the museum is open between 09.00-17:00 hours. Entrance fee is 3 YTL.
